How do I post a picture?

In case you've been trying to post a picture and it hasn't been working, try this:

1. Go to www.photobucket.com (or any other free online site that allows you to upload photos and then stores them out in cyberspace).

2. Upload the photo of your choice.

3. Once uploaded, each photo will receive it's own URL and image code (this is the code tagged [IMG]). Copy and paste the [IMG] code into your post. The photo will not appear until your post saves.

4. If you need to make the photo larger or smaller, Photobucket has tools that will allow you to alter the image.

Which part is giving you troubles? Can I walk you through it?

On most sites, including my own (A Higher Good), I can post pictures from my files. Why can't we do that here?

You can. Go to the top and click on "Profile", then go to the "avatar" tab.

I'm not sure why, Ron. I have to upload my photos to an internet site (I use www.photobucket.com) and then snag the image code -- the code that has the [IMG] at the beginning and end.

Mel is right about uploading an avatar/profile pic.

I tried to post my book covers on here, but got sent to some other site I had to register for.

Most photo websites are free, but you do need to register. I've been using Photobucket for years and haven't had any trouble at all and no spam e-mails either.

Photobucket is good. Been using it for years.

I do have a photobucket account, but it's when I tried to upload my book covers to post here. A site popped up, and said that we had to use that site to put photos on this site. I didn't have time to do that at the tme, and forgot about it until someone brought up pictures. Thanks, Merri and Mel.

Sorry, Mary, I don't know what's happening with your book covers. I've never received that message. The trouble is when you're actually uploading the covers to Photobucket? Maybe they are too large. Or maybe you can try only uploading one at a time using the old uploader (Photobucket has an old uploader and a new uploader).

My problem is not with photobucket, Merri. I'll do a screen shot so you can see what I mean. Later though when I have an extra minute. Thank you!

I'm beginning to think I don't know what I'm talking about because I can't find where to even post a picture like a book cover. I guess I will just stop looking now before I make a total fool out of myself.
